In this video, I have to brush out the pet completely which is matted, in order to do anything with the coat. You NEVER bathe a dog with knots in its coat. Client wants a guard hair cut, meaning to want the hair left longer taking minimum off. But, the brushing isn't being done with the pet daily so what builds up is now forced to be dealt with in a matter of an hour or two. So, in my opinion its tolling on the dog and the groomer. We did complete this dog but we will not do this again for the dogs sake. Pet parent is asked to brush the dog daily to prevent such matt build up. One to two hour to get tangles out a month or two or more is too much for a pet. I wouldn't do it to my own pet so why would I do it to your pet? I like to groom by what you are able to maintain on the home front, what's reality in expectations of upkeep and what are not. So, it's important to know how much time you at home are going to put into keeping your pets coat in good condition. Brush does all the work, comb doesn't lie. Checking with the comb will allow you to see if your brushing is good enough. If I, the groomer use this technique to check myself, I recommend clients at home do the same. The baby endured all the brushing. I went home with sore wrists. Personally I do not recommend this. Those groomers saving coats sometimes have the dog for hours. I don't groom like that, I like to have the groom done within an hour or just after an hour.
